Sean McBeath, Education Specialist for secondary language arts, is here to help teachers ensure that students become life-long, independent learners who can use language to communicate, to stimulate the imagination, and to compose and comprehend meaning. Modes to be emphasized will be reading, writing, listening, speaking, and expressing. Teachers will be given ongoing training and information concerning, but not limited to, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills. As the education specialist, I will work with the school districts in the region to help make their language arts departments efficient, professional, and successful. All matters of curriculum, instruction, and assessment will be addressed. Major emphasis will be given to the struggling secondary writers in the Region 9 service area.
