The Autism program at Region 9 ESC provides staff development opportunities, information, and technical assistance for educators who work with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families. The program provides support for educators, students and families in achieving academic success in a variety of school settings. The focus of the state Autism Network is to raise knowledge and awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorders in Texas. Leadership for the Network is provided through Region 13 ESC, www.esc13.net, in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency and the 20 Regional Education Service Centers. One of the functions of the Autism Statewide Network is to provide information and resources for educators, individuals and families touched by Autism Spectrum Disorders. The Network also sponsors the annual Texas State Conference on Autism. TEA has sponsored an Autism Model Site project for 10 regions in Texas and Region 9 is fortunate enough to have one of the Model Sites in WFISD.
