Science Fair? No… Science FANTASTIC!
by Holly Duncan
In the gymnasium, there are rows and rows of science fair boards set up with an unusual amount of excited children all around. Walking through the displays, there is something that stands out about this science fair… the judges are very different. The junior and senior students are the judges for the younger students at Perrin-Whitt. Seeing the professionalism of a 17 year-old young man as he discusses with a 12 year-old their project is heart-warming and inspiring. The quality of the projects soar as students know that not just some stranger will see their work, but that the students they go to school with will be looking at and judging it.
As Perrin Whitt CISD conducted their annual science fair under the direction of the elementary and secondary science teaching staff, the selection of topics was noteworthy. Projects reflected concern for the earth and cutting edge scientific questions. The organization of this science fair made science fun and meaningful. No PWCISD, your science fair wasn’t just fair – it was FANTASTIC!
