High School Equivalency Certification Testing

  • Registration 

  • Cost

    • The 2014 Series GED is $33.75 per test (4 tests) or $135 total.
  •  Retesting
    • Candidate may retake the exam the first three attempts per subject area without wait time restrictions. All subsequent attempts are subject to a 60-day waiting period between attempts. There is no maximum limit to the number of attempts per student within a year. 
  •  Residence Requirements
    • An Applicant must be a resident of the state of Texas or a member of the United States military stationed at a Texas installation (NO EXCEPTIONS).
  •  Age Requirements
    • A person must be at least 18 years old. The following are also eligible:
      • A person who is at least 17 years old and is not enrolled in school may test with signed parental permission. If a person is married, in the military, or have otherwise legally severed the parental relationship they are not required to present written parental or guardian permission.
      • A person who is at least 16 years old and has been ordered by a justice or municipal court to take the GED exam.
      • Additional forms are required for 16 and 17-year old candidates. These forms can be downloaded during registration at www.ged.com. Please allow extra time for these forms to be submitted to Texas Education Agency. You cannot register for an exam until these forms have been approved.
  • Accommodations

    • Forms can also be downloaded during the registration process. Please allow extra time for an accommodation request to be submitted and approved.
