Lights, Camera, Action: Writer's Workshops

September 26 and 27, 2012

Joni Lemley

September 11, 2012

This Writer's Workshop is a dynamic classroom framework that ensures success for ALL writers.  In each session, teachers will learn about the three main components of Writer's Workshop and how they work together to differentiate classroom writing instruction.  Each session is perfect for teachers who don't currently have a scheduled writing time in their classroom or those who are already using Writer's Workshop and want to make it better!  They will be full of practical classroom anecdotes that will keep teachers laughing as they learn a powerful method that will change their classrooms and writers for life!

Our presenter, Melissa Leach works professionally in the state of Texas to train teachers.  She also works nationally for teachers with Staff Development for Educators, SDE.

It is Melissa’s desire to have a great impact on student achievement. At the present time, the way she does that is through teaching teachers.  Before beginning to train educators, Melissa taught every grade PreK-3.  She is a firm believer in the Gradual Release of Responsibility model as well as the Balanced Literacy Framework.  Her knowledge of Balanced Literacy comes from a strong Bachelor’s degree and graduate studies from Michigan State University as well as graduate work at Texas A&M University.  Leach’s Literacy trainings blend the research and knowledge of best practice with hands on application to a real life classroom setting. Melissa is reaching more students, one teacher at a time.

There will be two workshops presented (Click on link below to register):

Limited seating is available, please register early.
