REQUIRED DISCIPLINE TRAINING FOR ADMINISTRATORS
House Bill 1952 requires administrators, at least once every three years, to complete training on the distinction between a discipline management technique used at the principal’s discretion under Texas Education Code Section 37.002(a) and the discretionary authority of a teacher to remove a disruptive student under section 37.002(b). Please contact David Anderson at firstname.lastname@example.org for instructions on how to access a Region 9 ESC on-line training module that fulfills this requirement.
Texas Behavior Support Initiative
The Texas Behavior Support Initiative (TBSI) is a state-level training mandated by Senate Bill 1196 and Texas Administrative Code 89.1053. While this training meets legislative requirements related to procedures for the use of restraint and time-out, it also provides a framework for sharing a wide range of foundation-level behavior strategies and prevention-based school-wide, classroom, and individual interventions. These training modules are available free of charge on the Region 4 ESC website. Region 4 ESC is the State lead for the Texas Behavior Support Initiative. You may register for the training (or the Administrator Overview training for administrators) at the following link:
