The Texas Citizen Bee is a statewide civics education competition for high schools sponsored by Law Related Education/The State Bar of Texas and funded by the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation. The middle school event, organized by Region 9 Education Service Center, is a pilot program for the state, offering teachers and regional middle school students an exciting way to study their social studies material including America’s heritage, the U.S. Constitution and other important documents, people, issues, civic values, and skills, as well as review this material for their 8th grade STAAR test.
