April is Child Abuse Awareness Month, and the Early Childhood Coalition will host an event on April 1 that will include the previously-held health fair experience as well as a community block party to kick off awareness for ACEs and child abuse prevention.
Last year was a success with the collaboration of over 40 agencies. There were 69 families represented with 217 people in attendance. The Coalition is hoping for an even bigger turnout this year.
This free event is not only to raise awareness and connect families with resources but to also create positive experiences for children in our community. Positive experiences are a way to combat Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), by promoting positive child and family well-being. The CAPP group will be bringing the Walk of Knowledge, a set of shoes to represent each victim of child abuse in 2022 in Wichita County and signs with state and local statistics.
