Congratulations to Caleb Hudson, a McNiel Middle School 8th grader, the Region 9 winner of the 2019 Bee in a Box competition.  He competed against students from across Region 9.

The Texas Citizen Bee is a statewide civics education competition for high schools sponsored by Law Related Education/The State Bar of Texas and funded by the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation. The middle school event, organized by Region 9 Education Service Center, is a partner event for middle schools, offering teachers and regional middle school students an exciting way to study their social studies material including America’s heritage, the U.S. Constitution, important historical documents, people, and events, as well as review this material for their 8th grade STAAR test.  Students completed a multiple choice written test and four rounds of oral questions.

Winning students also included: 2nd place – Kiley Ford (Vernon Middle School); 3rd place – Adam Greiger (McNiel Middle School, WFISD); 4th place – Brayden White (McNiel Middle School, WFISD); 5th place – Sai Ale (Vernon Middle School).  Congratulations to these winners and the outstanding students who participated in the Bee!
